As many of you know, Matt and I currently have a bi-coastal relationship. He started his new position in California back in January and I am finishing up grad school in New York.
During this time on opposite coasts, I am living with one of my best friends (here's looking at you, A-Rod) and her amazing mom.
We've been able to have late-night talks and girls outings to NYC...and I have been spoiled silly by my friend's momma (let's just say I haven't cooked ONCE since my arrival).
So there are definite blessings that have come out of this period of separation.
But, still, it's hard to be apart.
Sometimes, I am asked the question, "How did you know that Matt was the one?"
And while the most profound answer to that question would take some time to explain, one of the less complex, but still very truthful, responses is that Matt and I are partners in adventure.
We have been since the very beginning of our relationship.
Sometimes, our ideas of adventure look a bit different.
But that's ok. Most of the time, our visions overlap very nicely.
There are lyrics from a song I love that go something like this:
Moon River, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style someday
Oh, dreammaker
You heartbreaker
Wherever you're going, I'm going your way
Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waiting 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend, Moon River, and me
Missing you, my huckleberry friend.
oh man, why did i start reading this at work
ReplyDeletecan't wait until our next adventure, to see what's around that next bend...
